Physiotherapists are movement specialists. They have detailed knowledge of the motor and sensory systems, muscle control, movement, posture and physical function.
Physiotherapists working with infants and children determine if a delay exists in the development of movement and motor control. They then find ways to help the child to improve or overcome the delay. Therapy sessions usually include activities and games designed to:
- Develop muscle strength
- Achieve physical milestones
- Develop coordinated movement
- Maintain range of movement
- Develop motor planning skills
When working with a child and family, a Noah’s Physiotherapist will aim to identify the activities that a child regularly participates in and works towards making these activities easier and more enjoyable for them. They might also identify equipment to help a child with mobility and movement control.
