Every child is unique
Child development is the sequence of physical, language, thought and emotional changes that occur in a child from birth to the start of adulthood.
All children are unique and develop in different ways depending on a variety of factors. Observing and monitoring development in a child is important to check against what is considered ‘average’ for a particular age group.
Noah’s Inclusion Services helps families monitor child development and has advice and services available when development milestones are not being met as expected.
Child development covers:
- Cognition – the ability to learn and problem solve
- Social interaction and emotional regulation – interacting with others and mastering self-control
- Speech and Language – understanding and using language, reading and communicating
- Physical skills – fine motor (finger) skills and gross motor (whole body) skills
- Sensory awareness – registering and sorting information from the senses
Noah’s staff are highly skilled and experienced in child development and recognising if a child is just taking a little longer to reach a milestone or if there might be a problem. If a family is worried about their child is not meeting developmental milestones they should seek advice from their family doctor or attend a Noah’s Playgroup.
If a child has an NDIS Plan, their family can work with Noah’s key workers and therapists to address any delays in child development and work towards meeting their NDIS goals.
