The Parent Room for Parents and Carers
The Parent Room offers parents of children with additional needs new connections with other parents, practical information and new ways to learn about accessing services for their children. Every family is different and this program is designed to provide a range of opportunities for parents to connect with other parents. We hope this program helps parents feel supported and learn new knowledge and skills to care for their children and get the services they need.
Our overall program has three components:
- Parent Information Sessions / Peer Groups
- Parent Advocacy Training
- Parent to Parent mentoring (coming soon)
There is flexibility so that families may access some or all of the components.
The Parent Room Information sessions are usually held on the last Thursday of the month (during term time). Different topics are covered each month, usually with the option of a day session or one in the evening to suit your busy time schedule. See our timetable below for details of what topics are coming up next (and what we’ve previously talked about). Events also posted on our Facebook Like page.
