What is Early Childhood Early Intervention?
The Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach is a transition approach to assist families of younger children (aged 0-6) gain access to the NDIS. The NDIA has worked collaboratively with the NSW Government and Early Childhood Intervention Australia NSW/ACT, to determine this transitional approach. As such and until June 2018, current NSW Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) providers who provide supports consistent with elements of the NDIA’s ECEI approach will be contracted by the NSW Government.

This short video from the NDIS explains how the Early Childhood Early Intervention approach can assist your child and your family.
How can ECEI help my child?
If your child is aged 0 – 6 years and you are concerned about their development, Noah’s can help. Every child is different therefore the types of assistance will vary depending on your child’s needs. We will start by meeting with you and discussing your concerns. We will then help you;
- Determine the support needs of your child.
- Review any further information you may have about the needs of your child.
- Identify any community based or mainstream supports that may be able to assist (this could be a play
group or community health services).
- Access any short term supports that you child may need.
- Register with the NDIS, should it be clear your child needs longer term, more intensive supports. We can
also assist you to develop your NDIS plan and once it is approved by the NDIA support you to connect
with a provider of your choice.
My child has just turned seven; can Noah’s help me?
As an NDIS approved provider, Noah’s can provide supports to children and young people over the age of seven years, provided the supports are within an approved plan and are of the type that Noah’s has been approved to provide. A full list of the supports that Noah’s has been approved to provide can be found here.
If a child or young person over seven years of age wants to gain access to the NDIS, Noah’s will assist them to contact a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) who will assist them to access the NDIS. As an ECEI partner, Noah’s can only assist families of younger children aged 0-6 to gain access to the NDIS. The Local Area Coordinator within the Illawarra Shoalhaven is Uniting.
It is important to note the difference between Noah’s Inclusion Services ability to provide supports and to assist children to gain access to the NDIS. Supports can be provided to all children and young people aged 0 – 18; Noah’s can only provide assistance to gain access to the NDIS to those under seven years.
